Jessica Cooney

Following a debilitating illness in her late teens, Jess discovered Pilates as a way to regain full use of her legs again. This led to a passion to bring this movement method to others and share how transformative it can truly be…. and through that journey she discovered Garuda. James’s method remedied many residual structural issues left over from her original illness and brought her a new level of functional mobility she didn’t think was ever going to be possible.  Over the last 10 years, Jess has completed many Garuda teacher training courses to complement her original training in Pilates Matwork and all studio equipment.

Her journey brings a huge amount of empathy to her teaching, honouring each client’s unique architecture whilst pushing them to challenge their own expectations of their bodies’ capabilities.

“I’ve just finished the seated standing course and am rejoicing in the wonderful feeling of inhabiting my body as if I’ve moved through to a different sense of being alive. This feeling (inadequately described) only comes to me from Garuda. It is ridiculous to say 'thank you' as one would politely say if a door were being held open, but perhaps that is the best analogy. With gratitude. ”Janet Cook
